The Rolling Summer House.

The brief from the charity South West Forest was for an extravagant and innovative centrepiece for a series of ‘WoodFairs’ intended to promote locally sourced South West timber as a viable resource for a wide range of industries. It needed to be installed and packed up in a matter of minutes, and have the potential for reproduction (retail £14,000). The obvious answer was a rolling summer house, tougher and more beautiful than ever before, with a customised trailer and an enlarged entrance that can function as seat. In 2007 this design visited eight shows, and found homes in private gardens and hotels in England and Ireland.

Inspired by the structure of microscopic plankton and seed heads, the three metre wide structure accommodates adults and children. It is a serious piece of art inspired by the natural world that is intended as a space for repose, the perfect place to read or enjoy a private picnic in the shade. Children love the rolling summer house, which can become a sea-monster, a space ship, a house or just a great climbing frame, and the curved floor inside is brilliant for running up and down.

The rolling summer house will be delivered internationally by us personally, and comes with child proof legs.
